HKPC Wins 15 Awards at 2021 Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions Anti-COVID-19 R&D Feat "kNOw Touch - Contactless Elevator Control Panel" Being Awarded Gold Medal with Congratulations of Jury

(Hong Kong, 22 March 2021) (Updated on 23 March 2021) The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) proudly announced that its research and development (R&D) achievements have once again been recognised at the prestigious “Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions”, winning 15 awards in total, the most for HKPC since its inventions made their debut at the event in 2015, including three Gold Medals with Congratulations of Jury, four Gold Medals, seven Silver Medals and one Bronze Medal. One of the Gold Medals is in collaboration with the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department of the HKSAR Government. HKPC pledges to shoulder its mission to help Hong Kong enterprises to enhance productivity through advanced technology and R&D with an aim to make smart smarter and to create a new economy together.

Among the winning inventions, HKPC is honoured and proud that “kNOw Touch – Contactless Elevator Control Panel” has won the Gold Medal with Congratulations of Jury. It is a fantastic recognition of the efforts HKPC put into combating COVID-19 as most scientists and researchers did in the past year. Two other entries, “Electrically-Assisted Free Forming (EAFF) Technology for Customisation of Sheet Metal Parts” and “Qoolmate  x TTFIC”, also received the same accolade.

Mr Willy Lin, Chairman of HKPC, said, “HKPC is committed to serving Hong Kong industries through the adoption of advanced technologies. We are delighted that HKPC’s R&D achievements have once again been acknowledged internationally with the number of awards received from the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions.” Lin continued, “HKPC launches a series of activities in 2021 themed ‘Make Smart Smarter’ aiming to leverage advanced technologies and innovative services to serve Hong Kong industries covering areas such as reindustrialisation, intelligent manufacturing, FutureSkills, green technology, smart city, cyber security, during the Industry 4.0 and Enterprise 4.0 era.”

Mr Mohamed Butt, Executive Director of HKPC, said, “This is the sixth time that HKPC’s R&D projects have participated in the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions. To HKPC, winning an award is a bonus, timely technological innovation with a view to bring positive impact to the community and making people’s lives more fulfilling is the core. The home-grown kNOw Touch product to combat COVID-19 exhibits remarkable expertise and competence in scientific research and technological development to address imminent needs. We are deeply honoured with the multiple international accolades for HKPC and wish to thank our team for their innovative spirits and strenuous efforts to R&D achievements enabling us to shine on the international stage. We will continue to collaborate with different stakeholders to enhance productivity and create values for industries to chalk up even greater achievement for Hong Kong.”
